Samford University's Special Collection Department serves as the archive for the university. One of the primary missions of the Collection is to preserve, protect and provide access to the history of Howard College and Samford University.

Howard College was founded in Marion, Alabama in 1841. In 1887, it moved to the East Lake area of Birmingham. In 1957, the campus was moved to Homewood, right outside of Birmingham.

In 1965, Howard College changed its name to Samford University.

Howard College began publication of the student-run newspaper The Howard Crimson in 1915. In 1965, the newspaper was renamed The Samford Crimson. Many alumni and faculty that have built and left their mark on the University reside in this digitized resource.

The Entre Nous is the yearbook of Howard College and Samford University. The collection covers the years 1912 to 2013, with some dates missing in between. The term Entre Nous is French and translates to mean "between us, confidentially."
