BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 1»41
This is the first visit for the Als-
bama team to Legion Field for the
Howard game. In years past they
have had the fight in their own
back yard, Denny Stadium.
Of course, Coach Bill White can’t
put enough ’Dogs on the field to
outnumber the Tide, but he can put
several men on the field that can
make the mighty Tide’s time well
spent Reports say that the Tiders
will be on the rebound after their
defeat of last week although the
Bulldogers don't see it that way.
They hope to keep the Tide out.
That is, out of commission for four
quarters and long enough to score
themselves.
Slated to be the biggest threats
to Alabama will be Jimmy Tarrant,
Earl Gartxnan, Austin Dean, and
Phil Winters. As far as that goes
the whole Howard team, including
the subs, and even old Bozo, the
team mascot Bozo started to back
out and let the Tide roll rough shod
over the remaining Bulldogs but
he changed his mind and is back
on the Howard campus for the
battle tomorrow. Although he won’t
get into the game, he will be on
sidelines rooting for his teammates
on the field.
The Tide can throw a strong for¬
ward wall against Howard. A prob¬
able starting line with weights
would look like this; Rast
11».
and
Roberts. 183, ends; Undala. 238,
and Olenski, 217, tackles; Domna-

Freshmen registering late or who
for other reasons failed to take any
or all of the Freshman tests must
do so in order to complete their
registration, according to an an¬
nouncement by Dean Burns.
The tests will be given in room
106 of Riley Hall, Tuesday. October
When that spirit hits you, you’ll
shout "Hallelujah!’’ . . . and what
spirit could we mean except the
Spirit of ’35. What, you don’t know
what that means? Well, we’ll tell
you. That was the year the Uni¬
versity of Alabama’s great Crimson
Tide, Just back from the Rose Bowl,
limped off Denny Field, more than
glad to get a 7-7 tie with some ’im¬
pudent' Bulldogs from Howard Col¬
lege.
And from that game. Howard
went on to enjoy one of its best
years in history. Only Mississippi
State's Maroons were able to come
out on top of the Bulldogs and they
whipped
’Вата
as much as they did
Howard.
Tomorrow the 1941 edition of the
Bulldogs will be out there, not for
a tie, but for a victory!

gion Field tomorrow to take on
Alabama's Crimson Tide with a
good chance of knocking off the
Red Elephants. The kick-off is
slated for 2:30 pm.
Last week Howard won their
first game of the season, 34-8, in
th'tr second try, beating Spring
Hill. The next day Alabama lost
